About
Growing up in the West, I have been loving art and literature since young age. In my teens I started to writing books by myself and exploring the western modern art, searching for a deeper meaning in it. But as I couldn`t find this deeper connection to God in modern art, my path leads me to getting known Islam and in my early twenty I become Muslim.
Years later I discovered a profound connection with Islamic art.
In Winter 2020 I started to learn Arabic calligraphy and Islamic illumination. Some months later I decided to focus only on tezhip (Islamic illumination), in the beginning with my first teacher Nagihan Seymour and since 2021 with my current teacher Şeyma Çinar from the Istanbul Design Center.
But my artistic journey didn't stop at traditional Islamic illumination; I embarked on a quest to infuse my creations with a unique expression. In my pieces, I try to seamlessly blend the intricate patterns of tezhip with the raw beauty of God's creation: Dried leaves, plants, and flowers became delicate additions, while feathers, shells, wood, and stones find their place in my artwork.
My fusion of tradition and nature are speaking to a deeper connection with the divine. I hope that my art is transforming its viewers into reflection of the harmony between human craftsmanship and the awe-inspiring beauty of Gods creation.
In sha Allah my creations serve as a bridge between east and west, art and spirituality, showcasing my western background and the beauty and richness of the Islamic heritage.
